Introduction by James Gilberd, Photospace Gallery
I began work on Daylight Hours in July 2014 with 600 images made between 2012-2014. These were edited down into this sequenced collection of 46. The majority of them are made in Wellington, New Zealand. I photograph whatever grabs my attention, wherever I end up. The images are taken off the cuff and in the moment. I don't often linger or take more than one or two frames.  I like to capture the way people interact with the environment, how light plays on objects as well as snap the occasional quirky moment. It's only after editing collections together that I begin to flesh out the little narratives going on in my subconscious. This collection, along with my second exhibition Daylight Hours, is about making an effort to really see;  to notice the world around us. I really enjoy when people interpret my photographs in their own way. One person sees the world a little differently from the next person, we each bring a unique perspective.
